I skimmed the rant. Reads like a column from an anti-everything student in a CEGEP newspaper.
It should be noted however, that two of the biggest monsters of the 20th century, Stalin and Hitler, ran countries that were anti established religion. (Although, Nazism and Communism were in a sense state religions.)
So war and violence isn't caused by religion. Rather war is a natural consequence of humans living in a world with limited resources. In the end, it's about greed.
If all the peoples of the world were atheist, there would still be wars.
You're right, religion doesn't cause wars, people cause wars!
We could have fewer wars if we didn't have religionists and absolutists: it's kinda hard to negotiate anything so long as people are arguing in absolute terms, because that usually requires a compromise.
